Thank God for the Scriptures

Thanksgiving 4.28 | KJV

For the writing of the Scriptures and the preserving of them pure and entire to this day.

I thank thee that I have the Scriptures to search, and that in them I have eternal life, and that they testify of Christ; John 5:39(KJV) and that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16(KJV)

That whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for my learning, that I through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope; Romans 15:4(KJV) and that I have this most sure word of prophecy, as a light shining in a dark place. 2 Peter 1:19(KJV)

That the vision is not become to me as the words of a book that is sealed, Isaiah 29:11(KJV) but that I hear in my own tongue the wonderful works of God. Acts 2:11(KJV)

I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that the things which were hid from the wise and prudent, and which many prophets and kings desired to see, and might not, 1 Peter 1:10(KJV) are revealed to us babes: even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. Luke 10:21(KJV)

Thank God for the Scriptures

Thanksgiving 4.28 | ESV

For the writing of the Scriptures and the preserving of them pure and entire to this day.

I thank you that I have the Scriptures to search, and that in them I have eternal life, for it is they that bear witness about Christ; John 5:39(ESV) and that all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16(ESV)

That whatever was written in former days was written for my instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures I might have hope; Romans 15:4(ESV) and that I have this sure prophetic word, as a lamp shining in a dark place. 2 Peter 1:19(ESV)

That the vision has not become to me like the words of a book that is sealed, Isaiah 29:11(ESV) but that I hear in my own tongue the mighty works of God. Acts 2:11(ESV)

I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that the things which you have hidden from the wise and understanding and which many prophets and kings desired to see but did not, 1 Peter 1:10(ESV) are revealed to little children like myself; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. Luke 10:21(ESV)

Thank God for the Covenant of Grace

Thanksgiving 4.27 | NIV

For the covenant of grace made with me in Jesus Christ and all the exceedingly great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the seals of it.

I thank you that in Jesus Christ you have made an everlasting covenant with me, your faithful love promised to David; Isaiah 55:3(NIV) and that though the mountains may be shaken and the hills be removed, yet this covenant of your peace will never be removed. Isaiah 54:10(NIV)

That you have given me very great and precious promises, so that through them I may participate in the divine nature; 2 Peter 1:4(NIV) and that this covenant of which Jesus Christ is Mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises. Hebrews 8:6(NIV)

That though you punish my sin with the rod and my iniquity with flogging, yet you will not take your love from me nor betray your faithfulness; you will not violate your covenant or alter what your lips have uttered. Psalm 89:32-34(NIV)

That because you wanted to make the unchanging nature of your purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, you have confirmed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, I who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to me may be greatly encouraged. Hebrews 6:17-18(NIV)

That baptism is appointed to be a seal of the righteousness which is by faith, as circumcision was; Romans 4:11(NIV) that it assures me of the forgiveness of my sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit; and that this promise is for God’s people and their children. Acts 2:38-39(NIV) And that the cup in the Lord’s Supper is the blood of the New Covenant, which was poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:28(NIV)

Thank God for the Covenant of Grace

Thanksgiving 4.27 | NASB

For the covenant of grace made with me in Jesus Christ and all the exceedingly great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the seals of it.

I thank You that in Jesus Christ You have made an everlasting covenant with me, according to the faithful mercies shown to David; Isaiah 55:3(NASB) and that though the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, yet this, Your covenant of peace, will not be shaken. Isaiah 54:10(NASB)

That You have granted to me precious and magnificent promises, so that by them I might become a partaker of the divine nature; 2 Peter 1:4(NASB) and that Jesus Christ is the Mediator of this better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. Hebrews 8:6(NASB)

That though You chasten my transgression with the rod and my iniquity with stripes, yet You will not break off Your lovingkindness from me, nor deal falsely in Your faithfulness. Your covenant You will not violate, nor will You alter the utterance of Your lips. Psalm 89:32-34(NASB)

That desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of Your purpose, You have interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, I who have taken refuge might have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before me. Hebrews 6:17-18(NASB)

That baptism is appointed to be a seal of the righteousness which is by faith, as circumcision was; Romans 4:11(NASB) that it assures me of the forgiveness of my sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit; and that this promise is for God’s people and their children. Acts 2:38-39(NASB) And that the cup in the Lord’s Supper is the blood of the covenant, which was poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:28(NASB)

Thank God for the Covenant of Grace

Thanksgiving 4.27 | KJV

For the covenant of grace made with me in Jesus Christ and all the exceeding great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the seals of it.

I thank thee that in Jesus Christ thou hast made an everlasting covenant with me, even the sure mercies of David; Isaiah 55:3(KJV) and that though the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, yet this covenant of thy peace shall never be removed. Isaiah 54:10(KJV)

That thou hast given unto me exceeding great and precious promises, that by these I might be a partaker of a divine nature; 2 Peter 1:4(KJV) and that Jesus Christ is the Mediator of this better covenant, which is established upon better promises. Hebrews 8:6(KJV)

That though thou chasten my transgression with the rod and my iniquity with stripes, yet thy loving-kindness thou wilt not utterly take away nor cause thy faithfulness to fail; thy covenant thou wilt not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of thy lips. Psalm 89:32-34(KJV)

That being willing more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise the immutability of thy counsel, thou hast confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, I might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before me. Hebrews 6:17-18(KJV)

That baptism is appointed to be a seal of the righteousness which is by faith, as circumcision was; Romans 4:11(KJV) that it assures me of the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost; and that this promise is to God’s people and their children. Acts 2:38-39(KJV) And that the cup in the Lord’s Supper is the blood of the New Testament, which was shed for many, for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28(KJV)

Thanksgiving 4.27 | ESV

For the covenant of grace made with us in Jesus Christ and all the exceedingly great and precious privileges of that covenant, and for the seals of it.

I thank you that in Jesus Christ you have made an everlasting covenant with me, your steadfast, sure love for David; Isaiah 55:3(ESV) and that though the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, yet this, your covenant of peace, shall never be removed. Isaiah 54:10(ESV)

That you have given to me precious and very great promises, that through them I might become a partaker of the divine nature; 2 Peter 1:4(ESV) and that the covenant Jesus Christ mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. Hebrews 8:6(ESV)

That though you punish my transgression with the rod and my iniquity with stripes, yet you will not remove your steadfast love or be false to your faithfulness; you will not violate your covenant or alter the word that has gone forth from your lips. Psalm 89:32-34(ESV)

That being willing to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of your purpose, you have guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, I who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before me. Hebrews 6:17-18(ESV)

Thank God for the Sending of the Holy Spirit

Thanksgiving 4.26 | NIV

For the sending of the Holy Spirit to supply the want of Christ’s bodily presence, to carry on his undertaking, and to prepare things for his second coming.

I bless you that when the Lord Jesus went away, he sent his people another Counselor to be with them forever – the Spirit of truth, John 14:16-17(NIV) who will bring glory to the Son by taking what is his and making it known to them. John 16:14(NIV)

That being exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:33(NIV) he has poured it out as streams of living water. John 7:38(NIV)

Blessed be God for the signs, wonders, and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, with which he testified to the great salvation. Hebrews 2:3-4(NIV)

And blessed be God for the promise that as earthly parents, though they are evil, know how to give good gifts to their children, so my Father in heaven will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him, Luke 11:13(NIV) that promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession. Ephesians 1:13-14(NIV)
