Pray for the Grace of Self-Denial and Humility

Petition 3.22 | KJV

I must pray for the grace of self-denial.

Lord, give me grace to deny myself, to take up my cross daily, and to follow Christ, Matthew 16:24(KJV) to keep under the body and bring it into subjection. 1 Corinthians 9:27(KJV)

Lord, keep me from being a lover of my own self, 2 Timothy 3:2(KJV) from being wise in my own conceit and leaning to my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5(KJV)

Lord, give me to seek not my own only, but my brother’s welfare. 1 Corinthians 10:24(KJV)

And grant that I may not live to myself or die to myself, but whether I live or die, I may be the Lord’s, and may live and die to him. Romans 14:7-8(KJV)

I must pray for humility and meekness.

Lord, give me to learn of Christ to be meek and lowly in heart, that I may find rest to my soul; Matthew 11:29(KJV) and that herein the same mind may be in me that was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5(KJV)

Lord, hide pride from me, Job 33:17(KJV) and clothe me with humility; 1 Peter 5:5(KJV) and put upon me the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in thy sight is of great price. 1 Peter 3:4-5(KJV)

Lord, give me grace to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith I am called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing others in love. Ephesians 4:1-2(KJV)

Pray for a Tender Conscience and God-Wrought Love

Petition 3.21 | KJV

I must pray that my conscience may be always tender and that I may live a life of repentance.

Lord, take away the stony heart out of my flesh and give me a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 11:19(KJV)

Make me afraid of all appearances of evil, 1 Thessalonians 5:22(KJV) and careful not to give Satan advantage against me, as being not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11(KJV)

I must pray to God to work in me charity and brotherly love.

Pray for the Fear of God and for the Love of God to be Rooted in you

I must pray for the fear of God.

Lord, work in me that fear of thee, which is the beginning of wisdom, Psalm 111:10(KJV) which is the instruction of wisdom, Proverbs 15:33(KJV) and which is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Proverbs 14:27(KJV)

Unite my heart to fear thy name, Psalm 86:11(KJV) that I may keep thy commandments, which is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13(KJV)

O put thy fear into my heart, that I may never depart from thee. Jeremiah 32:40(KJV) Let me be devoted to thy fear; Psalm 119:38(KJV) and let me be in the fear of the Lord every day and all the day long. Proverbs 23:17(KJV)

I must pray for faith.

Lord, increase my faith, Luke 17:5(KJV) and perfect what is lacking in it, 1 Thessalonians 3:10(KJV) that I may be strong in faith, giving glory to God. Romans 4:20(KJV)

Lord, give me so to be crucified with Christ, as that the life I may live in the flesh, I may live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me; Galatians 2:20(KJV) and so to bear about with me continually the dying of the Lord Jesus, as that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in my mortal body. 2 Corinthians 4:10(KJV)

To sanctify my nature, to plant in me all holy principles and dispositions, and to increase every grace in me.

To direct my conscience, to shew me the way of my duty, and to make me a wise, knowing, judicious Christian.

I must pray for grace to furnish me for every good thought, word, and work, that I may not only be kept from sin, but may be in every thing as I should be, and do as I should do.

Let Christ be made of God to me not only righteousness, but wisdom, sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30(KJV)

Let me be planted together in the likeness of Christ’s death and resurrection, that as he was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so I also may walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4(KJV)

That the work of grace may be wrought there, where it is not yet begun.
