Pray for the Continuance of your Nation’s Outward Peace and Tranquility

Intercession 5.10 | NASB

For the continuance of my nation’s outward peace and tranquility, its liberty and plenty, for the prosperity of its trade, and a blessing upon the fruits of the earth.

Let God Himself be a wall of fire around us and the glory in our midst; Zechariah 2:5(NASB) yes, let His gospel be our glory, and upon all that glory let there be a defense; and create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion and over her assemblies, a cloud by day, even smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night. Isaiah 4:5(NASB)

Peace be within our borders and prosperity within our palaces, Psalm 122:7(NASB) the prosperity both of merchandise and husbandry, that Zebulun may rejoice in his going forth and Issachar in his tents. Deuteronomy 33:18(NASB)

Set up walls and ramparts for us as security; and, to that end, let the gates be opened, that the righteous nation may enter, the one that remains faithful. Isaiah 26:1-2(NASB)

Make peace our administrators and righteousness our overseers; let violence never be heard again in our land, devastation or destruction within our borders, but let our walls be called salvation and our gates praise: Isaiah 60:17-18(NASB) Never let our land be termed “Forsaken” and “Desolate,” but let the Lord delight in us, and let our land be married to him. Isaiah 62:4(NASB)

Let our well-being be like a river and, to that end, our righteousness like the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48:14(NASB) Let that righteousness abound among us which exalts a nation, and deliver us from sin, which is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34(NASB)

Never make our heavens like bronze and our earth like iron, Deuteronomy 28:23(NASB) nor take back Your grain at harvest time and Your new wine in its season; Hosea 2:9(NASB) but pour down rain for us, the early and latter rains in their seasons, Joel 2:23(NASB) and keep for us the appointed weeks of the harvest, Jeremiah 5:24(NASB) giving us fair weather also in its season. Let our land yield its produce and the trees their fruit, that we may eat our food to the full and live securely in our land. Leviticus 26:4-5(NASB)

Abundantly bless our provision and satisfy our needy with bread, Psalm 132:15(NASB) that those who garner it may eat and praise the LORD. Isaiah 62:9(NASB) Do not blow it away, for then when we look for much, it will come to little; Haggai 1:9(NASB) but bless our blessings, that all nations may call us blessed and a delightful land. Malachi 3:10-12(NASB)

Pray Earnestly for National Mercies and the Blessing of the Gospel Ministry in your Nation

Intercession 5.9 | NASB

I must pray earnestly for national mercies.

For the favors of God to my nation and the tokens of His presence among us, as that in which our happiness is bound up.

O Hope of Israel, its Savior in time of distress, be not like a stranger in the land or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night; but be always in Your people’s midst: We are called by Your name; O do not forsake us. Although our iniquities testify against us, O LORD, act for Your name’s sake; although our apostasies have been many, and we have sinned against You. Jeremiah 14:7-9(NASB)

Restore us to Yourself, O Lord GOD of hosts, and then cause Your face to shine, and we will be saved. O stir up Your power and come to save us! Psalm 80:2-3(NASB)

Show us Your lovingkindness, O LORD, and grant us Your salvation; Psalm 85:7(NASB) yes, let Your salvation be near to those who fear You, that glory may dwell in our land. Let lovingkindness and truth meet together, righteousness and peace kiss each other: Let truth spring from the earth and righteousness look down from heaven; yes, let the LORD give what is good: Let righteousness go before Him and make His footsteps into a way. Psalm 85:9-13(NASB)

For the continuance of the gospel among us and the means of grace, and a national profession of Christ’s holy religion.

O let the throne of Christ endure forever among us, Psalm 45:6(NASB) even the place of Your sanctuary, that glorious throne on high from the beginning. Jeremiah 17:12(NASB)

Let our lampstand never be removed out of its place, though that is what we deserve, because we have left our first love. Revelation 2:4-5(NASB) Never do to us as You did to Your place which was in Shiloh, where You made Your name dwell at the first. Jeremiah 7:12(NASB)

Let us never know what a famine of the word means; nor ever be forced to stagger from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the earth, to seek the word of God. Amos 8:11-12(NASB)

O Lord, be the stability of our times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; and let the fear of the LORD be our treasure: Isaiah 33:6(NASB) Let the righteous flourish among us, and let there be those who fear You in our land, while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations; Psalm 72:5(NASB) that there may be abundance of peace, Psalm 72:7(NASB) and the children yet to be created may praise the LORD. Psalm 102:18(NASB)

Pray for the Nations of the World and for your Own Nation

Intercession 5.8 | NASB

For surrounding nations and all the countries of the world.

You, LORD, rule over the nations: Psalm 22:28(NASB) Who will not fear You, O King of the nations? Jeremiah 10:7(NASB) You sit on the throne judging righteously; Psalm 9:4(NASB) judge the world therefore in righteousness, and execute judgment for the peoples with equity. Psalm 9:8(NASB)

Lord, hasten the time when You will make wars to cease to the end of the earth; Psalm 46:9(NASB) when nation will no more lift up sword against nation, nor kingdom against kingdom, but swords will be hammered into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks, and they will never again learn war. Isaiah 2:4(NASB)

Make kings guardians, and their princesses nurses, to the Israel of God. Isaiah 49:23(NASB)

And in the days of these kings, let the God of heaven set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, even the kingdom of the Redeemer. Daniel 2:44(NASB) And whatever counsels there are in men’s hearts, Lord, let Your counsels stand, Proverbs 19:21(NASB) and fulfill the plans of Your heart from generation to generation. Psalm 33:11(NASB)

For my own land and nation, which I ought in a special manner to seek the welfare of, that in its peace, your church in this land may have peace.

I must be thankful to God for His mercies to my land.

I bless You that You have planted me on a fertile hill, Isaiah 5:1(NASB) and have not given the wilderness for my home or the salt land for my dwelling place, Job 39:6(NASB) but the land I inhabit yields its produce. Psalm 85:12(NASB)

Lord, You have shown favor to my land. Psalm 85:1(NASB) I have heard with my ears, and my fathers have told me, the work that You did for Your church in their days, and in the times of old, Psalm 44:1(NASB) and as I have heard, so have I seen; for I have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Your temple. Psalm 48:8-9(NASB)

You have given Your church a pleasant land, Jeremiah 3:19(NASB) it is Immanuel’s land, Isaiah 8:8(NASB) it is a valley of vision; Isaiah 22:1(NASB) You have set up Your dwelling place among us, and Your sanctuary is in the midst of us. Ezekiel 37:26-27(NASB)

We live in safety under our own vine and fig tree, 1 Kings 4:25(NASB) and there is peace to him who goes out and to him who comes in. 2 Chronicles 15:5(NASB)

And because the Lord loved my people, therefore He has set a good government over us, to do justice and righteousness, 1 Kings 10:9(NASB) to be a terror to evildoers, and a protection and praise to those who do what is good. Romans 13:3(NASB)

I must be humbled before God for my nation’s sins and provocations.

But my nation is a sinful people, a people weighed down with iniquity, the offspring of evildoers; Isaiah 1:4(NASB) and we have a great deal of reason to sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in our midst. Ezekiel 9:4(NASB)

Lawlessness has increased among us, and most people’s love has grown cold. Matthew 24:12(NASB)

We have not been forsaken nor forgotten of our God, though our land is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel. Jeremiah 51:5(NASB)

Pray for the Relief of Suffering Churches and Persecuted Christians

Intercession 5.7 | NASB

For the relief of suffering churches and the support, comfort, and deliverance of all who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.

I desire in my prayers to remember those who are in prison for the testimony of Jesus, as in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since I too am in the body. Hebrews 13:3(NASB) O send from on high and deliver them from those who hate them, Psalm 18:16-17(NASB) and bring them forth into a broad place. Psalm 18:19(NASB)

O let not the scepter of wickedness rest upon the land of the righteous, lest the righteous should put forth their hands to do wrong. Psalm 125:3(NASB)

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake as in the days of old, as in the generations of long ago, and make the depths of the sea a pathway for the redeemed of the Lord to cross over. Isaiah 51:9-10(NASB)

Because of the devastation of the afflicted and the groaning of the needy, arise now, O LORD, and set them in the safety for which they long. Psalm 12:5(NASB)

O strengthen the perseverance and faith of Your suffering saints, Revelation 13:10(NASB) that they may wait silently for the salvation of the LORD. Lamentations 3:26(NASB)

O let the year of Your redemption come, Isaiah 63:4(NASB) and the year of recompense for the cause of Zion. Isaiah 34:8(NASB)

O that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion; and when the LORD restores His captive people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad. Psalm 14:7(NASB)

O let not the oppressed return dishonored, but let the afflicted and needy praise Your name. Psalm 74:21(NASB)

Lord, arise and have compassion on Zion, and let the time to be gracious to her, yes, the appointed time, come; Psalm 102:13(NASB) yes, let the LORD build up Zion and appear in His glory. Lord, regard the prayer of the destitute and do not despise their prayer. Psalm 102:16-17(NASB)

O Lord GOD, please stop: How can Jacob stand, for he is small? Amos 7:5(NASB) O let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary, for Your sake, O Lord. Daniel 9:17(NASB)

Let the groaning of the prisoners come before You, and according to the greatness of Your power preserve those who for Your name’s sake are doomed to die. Psalm 79:11(NASB)

Let those whose teachers have been removed, again see their teachers, though they have the bread of privation and the water of oppression. Isaiah 30:20(NASB)

Pray for the Defeat of the Enemies of the Church

Intercession 5.6 | NASB

For the breaking of the power of all the enemies of the church and the defeating of all their designs against her.

Let all who take their stand and take counsel together against the LORD and against His Anointed, who would tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from them, devise a vain thing. Let Him who sits in the heavens laugh at them and scoff at them; speak to them in Your anger and terrify them in Your fury. Psalm 2:1-5(NASB) Give them, O LORD, what You will give them; give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. Hosea 9:14(NASB)

O my God, make them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the wind; Psalm 83:13(NASB) fill their faces with dishonor, that they may seek Your name, O LORD, Psalm 83:16(NASB) and that they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 83:18(NASB)

Put them in fear, O LORD, that the nations may know that they are but men. Psalm 9:20(NASB) And wherein the proud enemies of Your church deal proudly, make it to appear that You are above them. Exodus 18:11(NASB)

May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward; let them be like grass upon the housetops, which withers before it grows up. Psalm 129:5-6(NASB)

Let no weapon formed against Your church prosper, and let every tongue that accuses it in judgment be condemned. Isaiah 54:17(NASB)

Make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples, and let all who lift it be severely injured, though all the nations of the earth should be gathered against it; Zechariah 12:3(NASB) so let all Your enemies perish, O LORD, but let those who love You be like the rising of the sun in its might. Judges 5:31(NASB)

Lord, let the man of lawlessness be slain with the breath of Your mouth and brought to an end by the appearance of Your coming: 2 Thessalonians 2:8(NASB) And let those be undeceived who have long been under the power of deluding influences to believe what is false, and let them receive the love of the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11(NASB)

Let Babylon fall and sink like a millstone into the sea; Revelation 18:21(NASB) and let the kings of the earth who have given their kingdom and honor to the beast, Revelation 17:17(NASB) be wrought upon at length to bring them into the new Jerusalem. Revelation 21:26(NASB)

Pray for the Health, Purity, and Holiness of the Church

Intercession 5.5 | NASB

For the amending of everything that is amiss in the church, the reviving of primitive Christianity and the power of godliness, and, to that end, the pouring out of the Spirit.

Lord, let Your Spirit be poured out upon Your churches from on high, and then the wilderness will become a fruitful field; Isaiah 32:15(NASB) then judgment will again be righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Psalm 94:15(NASB)

Let what remains be set in order, Titus 1:5(NASB) and let every plant that is not of my heavenly Father’s planting be uprooted. Matthew 15:13(NASB)

Let the Lord whom I seek come to His temple like a refiner’s fire and fullers’ soap, and let Him purify the sons of Levi and all the seed of Israel, and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness, pleasing offerings to the LORD as in the days of old, as in former years. Malachi 3:2-4(NASB)

Let pure and undefiled religion in the sight of my God and Father, flourish and prevail everywhere: James 1:27(NASB) that kingdom of God among men, which is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17(NASB) O revive this work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; Habakkuk 3:2(NASB) and let these times be times of reformation. Hebrews 9:10(NASB)

Pray for the Conversion of Non-Christians who are Hostile to Christianity

Intercession 5.4 | NASB

For the conviction and conversion of atheists, deists, and infidels, and of all who are out of the way of truth, and of profane scoffers and those who disgrace Christianity by their vicious and immoral lives.

O teach transgressors Your ways, and let sinners be converted to You. Psalm 51:13(NASB)

O grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 2 Timothy 2:25(NASB) the truth as it is in Jesus, Ephesians 4:21(NASB) the truth which is according to godliness; Titus 1:1(NASB) that they may escape from the snare of the devil. 2 Timothy 2:26(NASB)

Let those who are continually straying like sheep return to Jesus Christ, the Shepherd and Guardian of His people’s souls. 1 Peter 2:25(NASB)

Show those fools their folly and misery who have said in their hearts, “There is no God,” and who are corrupt and have committed abominable deeds. Psalm 14:1(NASB)

Lord, maintain the honor of the Scriptures, the law and the testimony, and convince those who do not speak according to that word, that it is because they have no dawn. Isaiah 8:20(NASB) Magnify that word according to all Your name; Psalm 138:2(NASB) make the law great, make the gospel great, and make both glorious. Isaiah 42:21(NASB)

Let those who will not be won by the word, be won by the behavior of Christians, 1 Peter 3:1(NASB) which I beg may be such in everything that those who do not believe may be convicted by all and called to account by all, may be brought to worship God and to declare that God is certainly among them. 1 Corinthians 14:24-25(NASB)

Pray for the Universal Church

Intercession 5.3 | NASB

For the universal church, wherever dispersed, and for all the interests of it.

My heart’s desire and prayer to God for the gospel-Israel is for its salvation. Romans 10:1(NASB)

By Your favor do good to Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem. Psalm 51:18(NASB) May peace be within her walls, and prosperity within her palaces. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within her.” Psalm 122:7-8(NASB)

O that I may see the prosperity of the gospel-Jerusalem all the days of my life and peace upon Israel. Psalm 128:5-6(NASB) And that, thus, I may have reason to answer the messengers of the nations, saying, “The LORD has founded Zion, and the afflicted of His people will seek refuge in it.” Isaiah 14:32(NASB)

Save Your people, O Lord, and bless Your inheritance; be their shepherd also, and carry them forever. Psalm 28:9(NASB) Give strength to Your people, and bless Your people with peace; Psalm 29:11(NASB) surround them with favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:12(NASB)

Grace be with all those who love the Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible; Ephesians 6:24(NASB) for You know those who are Yours, and give to all who name the name of Christ to abstain from wickedness. 2 Timothy 2:19(NASB)

I pray for all who believe in Christ, that they may all be one; John 17:20-21(NASB) and since there is one body and one Spirit and one hope of calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, Ephesians 4:4-6(NASB) give to all Christians to be of one heart and one way. Jeremiah 32:39(NASB)

Let the word of the Lord spread rapidly in all places, and let it be glorified. 2 Thessalonians 3:1(NASB)

Pray for Jewish Conversions, Churches Threatened by Islam, and Churches on the Mission Field

Intercession 5.2 | NASB

For the conversion of the Jews.

Let the branches which are broken off not continue in their unbelief, Romans 11:17(NASB) but be grafted in again into their own olive tree. And though a partial hardening has happened to Israel, yet let the fullness of the Gentiles come in, and let all Israel be saved. Romans 11:23-26(NASB)

Let them be made to look on Him whom they have pierced; Zechariah 12:10(NASB) and, that they turn to the Lord, let the veil which lies over their hearts be taken away. 2 Corinthians 3:15-16(NASB)

For all churches that are groaning under the yoke of Islamic tyranny.

Let the churches of Asia, that were golden lampstands, Revelation 1:11-12(NASB) which the Lord Jesus delighted to walk among, be made so again. Revelation 2:1(NASB)

Restore to them their liberties as at the first and their privileges as at the beginning; smelt away their dross as with lye, and remove all their alloy, Isaiah 1:25-26(KJV) and restore their captivity, as the streams in the South. Psalm 126:4(NASB)

For the churches on the mission field.

Be the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea; Psalm 65:5(NASB) and let them have the blessing which came on the head of Joseph and on the crown of the One distinguished among his brothers, even to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. Genesis 49:26(NASB)

Create peace to him who is far and to him who is near. Isaiah 57:19(NASB)

And let those who draw out the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand, call peoples to the mountain, that they may offer righteous sacrifices. Deuteronomy 33:19(NASB)
