Pray for Grace to Bring God’s Truth to your Memory

Petition 3.16 | NASB

To help my memory, that the truths of God may be ready to me whenever I have occasion to use them.

Lord, let Your Spirit teach me all things and bring to my remembrance all that You have said to me, John 14:26(NASB) that the word of Christ may richly dwell within me, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Colossians 3:16(NASB)

Lord, grant that I may pay much closer attention to what I have heard, so that I do not drift away from it; Hebrews 2:1(NASB) and may I hold fast the word which has been preached to me, and not believe in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:2(NASB)

Lord, make me ready and mighty in the Scriptures, Acts 18:24(NASB) that I may be adequate, equipped for every good work; 2 Timothy 3:17(NASB) and, being a disciple of the kingdom of heaven, may I, like a head of a household, bring out of my treasure things new and old. Matthew 13:52 (NASB)

Pray for Grace to Keep you in the Way of Truth

Petition 3.15 | NASB

To lead me into and keep me in the way of truth; and if in anything I am in an error, to rectify my mistake.

Let the Spirit of truth guide me into all the truth, John 16:13(NASB) and show me how I have erred. Job 6:24(NASB)

Teach me what I do not see; Job 34:32(NASB) and enable me to examine everything carefully, so as to hold fast to that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21(NASB)

Lord, grant that I may not be as a child, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men; but speaking the truth in love, may I grow up in all aspects into Christ, who is the head. Ephesians 4:14-15(NASB)

Lord, give me so to do Your will, as that I may know that the teaching is from God; John 7:17(NASB) and so to know the truth, as that the truth may make me free, John 8:32(NASB) may make me free indeed. John 8:36(NASB)

Enable me, I pray, to retain the standard of sound words which I have heard in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 1:13(NASB) and to continue in the things I have learned and become convinced of. 2 Timothy 3:14(NASB)

Pray for Grace to Instruct you in the Things of God

Petition 3.14 | NASB

More particularly, I must pray for grace:

To teach and instruct me, and make me knowing and intelligent in the things of God.

Give me so to cry for discernment and lift my voice for understanding, to seek for it as silver and to search for it as for hidden treasure, that I may discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:3-5(NASB)

Grant that all Your people might know You, from the least even to the greatest, Hebrews 8:11(NASB) and to press on to know You; Hosea 6:3(NASB) and so to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent, that it may be eternal life to us. John 17:3(NASB)

Give to me a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Christ, that, the eyes of my heart being enlightened, I may know what is the hope of His calling and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and may experience what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward those who believe, in accordance with the working of the strength of His might. Ephesians 1:17-19(NASB)

Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law and gospel. Psalm 119:18(NASB)

Give me to know the exact truth about the things I have been taught; Luke 1:4(NASB) and let my knowledge grow up to all that wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself. Colossians 2:2(NASB) Deal with Your servant according to Your lovingkindness, and teach me Your statutes. I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies. Psalm 119:124-125(NASB) Let my cry come before You, O LORD; give me understanding according to Your word, Psalm 119:169(NASB) that good understanding which they have who do Your commandments, whose praise endures forever. Psalm 111:10(NASB)

Pray for God’s Grace to Equip you for Everything Good and to Beget and Sustain New Life

Petition 3.13 | NASB

I must pray for grace to equip me for every good thought, word, and work, that I may not only be kept from sin, but may be in everything as I should be, and do as I should do.

Let Christ be made of God to me not only righteousness, but wisdom, sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30(NASB)

Let me be planted together in the likeness of Christ’s death and resurrection, that as He was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so may I too walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4(NASB)

That the work of grace may be wrought where it has not yet begun.

Lord, teach transgressors Your ways, and let sinners be converted to You; Psalm 51:13(NASB) and let the disobedient be turned to the attitude of the righteous, and make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Luke 1:17(NASB)

Let those be quickened who are yet dead in trespasses and sins: Ephesians 2:1(NASB) Say to them, “Live!” Yes, say to them, “Live!” Ezekiel 16:6(NASB) And the time shall be a time for love. Ezekiel 16:8(NASB)

Open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified. Acts 26:18(NASB)

Because of the blood of Your covenant, set the prisoners free from the waterless pit, that they may return to the stronghold as prisoners who have hope. Zechariah 9:11-12(NASB)

Let the word of God prevail to the destruction of fortresses and the destroying of speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and let every thought be taken captive to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5(NASB)

That where it has begun it may be carried on and at length perfected, and the foundation that has been well laid may be happily built upon.

Fulfill in me every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power. 2 Thessalonians 1:11(NASB)

Let the God who began a good work in me perfect it until the day of Christ. Philippians 1:6(NASB)

Accomplish, O God, what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting: do not forsake the work of Your hands. Psalm 138:8(NASB)

Lord, let Your grace be sufficient for me, and let Your power be perfected in weakness, that where I am weak, there I may be strong, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10(NASB) strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ephesians 6:10(NASB)

Pray for God’s Grace to Fortify you Against Satan’s Temptations

Petition 3.12 | NASB

And that the temptations of Satan may not overcome me.

I pray that I may not enter into temptation; Matthew 26:41(NASB) or, however, that no temptation may overtake me but such as is common to man. And may the faithful God never allow me to be tempted beyond what I am able, but with the temptation provide the way of escape for me. 1 Corinthians 10:13(NASB)

Put upon me the full armor of God, so that I may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil; Ephesians 6:11(NASB) to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Let my loins be girded with truth, put on me the breastplate of righteousness, and let my feet be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Give me the shield of faith with which I may extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and the helmet of salvation; and let the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, be always ready to me. Ephesians 6:13-17(NASB)

Enable me to resist the devil, so that he may flee from me; James 4:7(NASB) to resist him, firm in my faith. 1 Peter 5:9(NASB) And may You, the God of peace, tread Satan under Your people’s feet, and may You do it soon. Romans 16:20(NASB)

Pray for God’s Grace to Fortify you Against Everything Evil

Petition 3.11 | NASB

I must pray for the grace of God, and all the kind and powerful influences and operations of that grace.

I draw near to the throne of grace, so that I may receive not only mercy to pardon, but grace to help in every time of need: Hebrews 4:16(NASB) grace for seasonable help.

From the fullness that is in Jesus Christ (in whom it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell), Colossians 1:19(NASB) let me receive, and grace upon grace. John 1:16(NASB)

I must pray for grace to fortify me against every evil thought, word, and work. Having been earnest for the removing of the guilt of sin, that I may not die for it as a crime, I must be no less earnest for the breaking of the power of sin, that I may not die by it as a disease, but that it may be mortified in me.

O let no sin be master over me, because I am not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14(NASB)

Let the flesh be crucified in me, with its passions and desires; Galatians 5:24(NASB) that walking by the Spirit, I may not carry out the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16(NASB)

Let my old self be crucified with Christ, in order that my body of sin might be done away with, so that I may no longer be a slave to sin. Romans 6:6(NASB) And do not let sin reign in my mortal body (in my immortal soul) so that I should obey its lusts; Romans 6:12(NASB) but having been freed from sin, let me become a slave of righteousness. Romans 6:18(NASB)

Let the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2(NASB)

Give me grace to lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, Ephesians 4:22(NASB) that I may put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians 4:24(NASB)

Let the world be crucified to me, and I to the world, by the cross of Christ. Galatians 6:14(NASB)

Pray for a Well-Grounded Peace of Conscience

Petition 3.10 | NASB

That I may have a well-grounded peace of conscience, a holy security and serenity of mind arising from a sense of my justification before God and a good work wrought in me.

The Lord of peace Himself continually grant me peace, all peace, in every circumstance: 2 Thessalonians 3:16(NASB) That peace which Jesus Christ has left with His people, which He gives to me; such a peace as the world can neither give nor take away; such a peace as that my heart may not be troubled nor fearful. John 14:27(NASB)

Let the work of righteousness in my soul be peace, and the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever. Isaiah 32:17(NASB)

Speak peace to Your people, to Your godly ones, and let them not turn back to folly. Psalm 85:8(NASB)

O create the praise of the lips, Peace, peace to those who are far and to those who are near; and restore comfort to Your mourners. Isaiah 57:18-19(NASB)

Where the sons of peace are, let Your peace find them out and rest on them. Luke 10:6(NASB)

Let me hear Your lovingkindness and taste the kindness of the Lord, 1 Peter 2:3(NASB) for I trust in You. Psalm 143:8(NASB)

Let the peace of God, which passes all comprehension, guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus; Philippians 4:7(NASB) and let that peace rule in my heart, to which I have been called. Colossians 3:15(NASB)

Now may the God of hope fill me with all joy and peace in believing, so that I will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13(NASB)

Pray for a Sense of Assurance

Petition 3.9 | NASB

I must pray for the comfortable sense of my reconciliation to God and my acceptance with Him.

That I may have some evidence of the pardon of my sins and of my adoption.

O let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones which sin has broken rejoice. Psalm 51:8(NASB)

Say to each of your children, “Take courage, Son, Daughter; your sins are forgiven.” Matthew 9:2(NASB)

Let the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse my conscience from dead works to serve You, the living God. Hebrews 9:14(NASB)

Let Your Spirit testify with my spirit that I am a child of God, and if a child, an heir also, an heir of God and a fellow heir with Christ. Romans 8:16-17(NASB)

Do You have only one blessing? Indeed, You have many blessings! Bless me, even me also, O my Father; Genesis 27:38(NASB) yes, let the blessing of Abraham come to me, which comes to the Gentiles through faith; Galatians 3:14(NASB) and the blessing of Jacob, for I will not let You go unless You bless me. Genesis 32:26(NASB)

That I may have the presence of God with me.

If Your presence does not go with me, do not lead me up from here; Exodus 33:15(NASB) never desert me, never forsake me. Hebrews 13:5(NASB)

O do not cast me away from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me; Psalm 51:11(NASB) but let me always dwell with the upright in Your presence. Psalm 140:13(NASB)

Pray for Reconciliation with God that you may be in Covenant with Him and Know His Favor

Petition 3.7 | NASB

That I may be taken into covenant with God and admitted into a relationship with Him.

Be to me a God, and take me as one who belongs to You, as one who is counted among Your people; Hebrews 8:10(NASB) and make me volunteer freely in the day of Your power, Psalm 110:3(NASB) though I am no longer worthy to be called Your son. Luke 15:19(NASB) For how would You set me, who has been rebellious, among Your sons, and give me the pleasant land? But You have said that I shall call You, My Father, and not turn away from following You. Jeremiah 3:19(NASB) Shall I not therefore from this time call to You, “My Father, You are the friend of my youth”? Jeremiah 3:4(NASB)

Make an everlasting covenant with me, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. Isaiah 55:3(NASB)

That I may have the favor of God and an interest in His special love.

I seek Your favor, O God, with all my heart; be gracious to me according to Your word, Psalm 119:58(NASB) for Your favor is for a lifetime; Psalm 30:5(NASB) yes, Your lovingkindness is better than life itself. Psalm 63:3(NASB)
